First post.

Well, welcome to my blog. Chances are good you're just poking around and seeing what's out there in the world. Your eyes should be safe here, sadly a bit too safe. I have never kept a diary and have never before felt like making a blog, as I am 42 I have to ask my self 'Why wreck a good thing?'. Well, we shall see where this goes, assuming it ever does go any where. I'll try to pop up some interesting pics of old clocks and watches, for those interested in old clocks and watches. As I repair them for a living now, I get to see some nice items. About the only thing I like better then taking something apart is putting it back together and making it work.

I've been at the job for almost a year now, and I'm already able to restore pocket watches. I have a lovely one from 1889 I restored on my own, new spring, full cleaning and new escape wheel. Would have used the one I repivited, but my loupe slipped and I twitched... Luckily I knew my skills weren't up to it and had the new wheel before I tried to repair the old. Let me tell you, it's a real trick to make a drill bit that's .0009 inches wide, drill a hole in a hardened metal shoulder that tapers down to .0012 inches, getting it perfectly centered, then cutting the pivot to fit it. So I don't feel too bad that I did all that, successfully, then wiped out while trimming/polishing because I let my loupe slip. I figured it wasn't bad for a first try when I hadn't been trained on it yet. The watch is a strong runner now and keeps good time. I'll toss a pick of it up here at some point.

Any way, I think that's it for my first blog entry ever. Time will tell if it's also my last or not.

PS. I'm dyslexic, and if my spell checker doesn't catch it, there's no way I'll notice. Deal, if you can't then there's really no one to blame but your self. Well, maybe you can blame an imperfect spell checker. It does the best it can, but I'm a real challenge at times.
